Hello everybody my name is Amrith Sathya. I am 11 years old. I did 101 Hinduism course and I am doing 201 course now. It helped me to learn more about my Hindu culture and my identity which I always think whether I am an Indian or Irish. I thank Rajesh Uncle for taking so much effort in teaching us the Hinduism Course. I will now write my blog about Lord Rama which I did the poster as well.
TEN IMPORTANT FACTS ABOUT LORD RAMA:
Lord Rama story was written by Valmiki named RAMAYANA.
Rama is the 7th incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
Rama is an ideal man and a perfect human being.
Rama was born in Treta Yuga, 1.2 million years ago.
Rama’s principle devotee was Hanuman.
Rama went to the forest for 14 years.
Ramayana describes Rama’s life journey.
Rama’s bow was believed to be powerful.
Rama ruled for 11000 years in Ayodhya.
The victory over Ravana is celebrated as Dusshera.
BIRTH, PARENTS AND SIBLINGS:
Rama was born to Kaushalya and Dasharata in Ayodhya. He has 2 step mothers Kaikeyi and Sumitra. He has 3 siblings Lakshman, Bharata and Shatrughna.
EARLY LIFE AND GURUKUL OF RAMA:
He was educated in his palace. Later on sage Vishwamitra requested that Rama and Lakshman can come to the forest with him to learn about divine weapons to kill the demon Taraka.
RAMA’S MARRIAGE:
Rama broke the bow of King Janaka in order to marry Sita. It is believed that the bow is very powerful. Rama returned to Ayodhya with his wife Sita.
EXILE TO FOREST:
Kaikeyi demands Dasaratha that Rama shouldn’t be king. He has to go to the forest for 14 years. She wants her son Bharata to become king. Rama alongwith Sita and Lakshman went to the forest.
RAVANA KIDNAPPING SITA:
They lived in the Dandaka forest. Ravana an asura king saw Sita and fall for her beauty. He tricked Rama and Lakshman and stole Sita to his palace in Srilanka.
WAR AGAINST RAVANA:
Rama was helped by the monkey king Sugriva, Hanuman and others. They built a bridge to cross the sea to Srilanka. Rama killed Ravana in the war and brought Sita home.
RAMA’S RETURN:
Rama returned and became king. He ruled nicely. After some time few people talked bad about Sita. So, Rama sent his pregnant wife to the forest. She stayed in Valmiki’s Ashram and gave birth to Luv and Kush.
RAMA’S AND SITA’S DEATH:
It is believed that Rama came to get Sita back to Ayodhya. She don’t want to return back. She left the world with her mother Boomadevi (Mother of Earth). Rama got very sad and he drowned himself. His children then ruled Ayodhya.
